The Art
Triangle. 📐

Roppongi redefined the museum experience. Here, you view contemporary masterpieces in the sky, open until late at night.

53rd Floor

Mori Art Museum. ☁️

Located at the top of the Mori Tower, this museum focuses on contemporary Asian art. It has no permanent collection, only massive, rotating exhibitions that often involve room-scale installations.

Open Late

It stays open until 10:00 PM (except Tuesdays). It is the perfect pre-dinner activity.

The View

Your ticket usually includes access to the Tokyo City View observation deck. Art + Skyline = Essential Roppongi.

ART In The Sky
The Empty Museum

National Art Center. 🌊

Designed by Kisho Kurokawa, the building itself is the masterpiece. Its undulating glass facade creates a massive, light-filled atrium. Uniquely, it has **zero permanent collection**. It is a giant rental space for Japan's biggest art shows.

Architecture

Even if you don't buy a ticket, walk into the atrium. It is one of the most photogenic interior spaces in Tokyo.

Vogue Cafe

The museum cafes sit atop giant inverted concrete cones floating in the lobby. A surreal place for coffee.

Anime History

This building was featured prominently in the hit anime movie *Your Name* (Kimi no Na wa) during the date scene.

Tadao Ando

Concrete Origami

Issey Miyake

21_21 Design Sight. 🕶️

Located in the Midtown Garden, this low-rise concrete structure was designed by Tadao Ando and fashion legend Issey Miyake. It is 80% underground. The exhibitions focus on "everyday design" rather than fine art.

The Roof:

The folded steel roof is inspired by "A Piece of Cloth" (Issey Miyake's design philosophy). It is a stunning example of minimalist Japanese architecture.

Free Access

Street Gallery. 🗿

Roppongi is filled with high-end public art. You don't need a ticket to see masterpieces by Louise Bourgeois or Takashi Murakami.

Maman (The Spider)

Standing at the base of Mori Tower. This 10-meter tall bronze spider carries marble eggs in its sac. It represents "protective motherhood."

Kin no Kokoro

The "Golden Heart" sculpture in the Roppongi Hills Mohri Garden. It looks different from every angle.
